Preschool (ages 3-5)
The following is a list of possible concerns that may warrant your preschooler being screened or evaluated by an occupational therapist:
- Hesitates to climb on playground equipment
- Seems to have difficulty learning a new motor task
- Dislikes puzzles
- Difficulty with small manipulative toys
- Continues to scribble without details when drawing after age 4
- Uses a fisted grasp when drawing after age 4
- Difficulty cutting with scissors after age 4
- Difficulty stringing beads
- Particularly distracted by or is overly sensitive to sounds or lights
- Continues to mouth toys or other objects
- Avoids getting hands messy
- Difficulty using a spoon or cup
- Not toilet trained
- Does not accept changes in routine easily
- Avoids eye contact
